Databases

The Databases panel connects to SQLite and MySQL or MariaDB. Browse tables, edit rows and run SQL; agents read the same connections.

Add a connection

  1. Click the database icon in the rail, or run Toggle databases panel.
  2. Click Add connection, or click a database container the panel found running on the machine.

A connection is yours until you choose Share with team. A shared connection is saved with the project, without its password. A SQLite file outside the project folder cannot be shared.

Ruimte keeps passwords encrypted on your computer. Where your system offers no encryption, it says so and keeps them only until it quits.

Work with tables

ToDo
See rowsOpen a table. Filter the rows, edit them, and submit your edits.
See or change a table's structureOpen its structure, or design a new table
Run SQLClick New console
Keep a table in the sidebarSave it as a view. A shared view needs a shared connection.

Unsubmitted edits keep their tab open until you submit or discard them.

SQL in files

In a .sql file, and in SQL inside PHP strings, the editor checks your SQL against a connection's schema. SQL of this file picks the connection for one file, or sets a default for the project. Read schema again picks up changes to the database.

What agents may do

Under Manage connections, set Agents per connection:

SettingWhat agents may do
OffNothing with this connection
Read onlyRun one SELECT or WITH query at a time, on a read-only session. The default.
Read and writeAlso change data
Only someone at the machine itself can allow writing. An agent in Supervised mode never writes.

An agent can show the rows it read as a table above its reply. A connection with a password works for agents only while you have the project open.
