Drawings and diagrams
Draw boxes and arrows beside your code, or keep a diagram that you and an agent both edit.
Make a drawing
Click New view in the sidebar and choose Drawing, or run New drawing view from the command palette.
| Tool | What it draws |
|---|---|
| Select, Pan | Picks shapes, moves the view |
| Rectangle, Diamond, Ellipse | Shapes |
| Arrow, Line | Connections |
| Draw | Freehand strokes |
| Text, Sticky note | Words |
| Eraser | Removes what you drag over |
Keep tool keeps the tool after you draw a shape. While you are not typing text, each tool also has a single key.
Select a shape to set its stroke and fill color, stroke width and style, fill pattern, sloppiness (Architect, Artist or Cartoonist) and font (Hand, Sans or Mono).
Export a drawing
Choose Export, then Copy as PNG, Save PNG, Copy as SVG or Save SVG. Pick Export selection for part of the drawing, and With background to keep the background.
Make a diagram
Click New view and choose Diagram, or run New diagram view. A diagram holds labeled nodes and their connections. Drag nodes to arrange them, or ask an agent to write the diagram.
Open JSON shows the diagram as data. To export it, run Copy diagram as PNG, Save diagram as SVG or another export command from the command palette.
Show a drawing to an agent
- Run Show drawing on canvas (or Show diagram on canvas). The drawing appears on a canvas as a node.
- Draw a line from the node into a chat or terminal.
The agent reads the shapes, their text and the arrows between them.
A drawing or diagram is private until you share its view. A shared one goes into the .ruimte folder you commit.
