Your account and machines
Sign in to a Ruimte account, and each computer you sign in on becomes a machine you can open from the desktop app, the web and your iPhone.
Machines
A machine runs your projects, terminals and agents. The desktop app runs one on its computer, unless you chose Only connect to my machines at the first start. On a server or a computer without a screen, npx ruimte runs one; see A machine without a screen.
Sign in
- Open Settings, Account.
- Sign in.
This computer's machine joins your account. Sign in on your other computers too, and each machine shows up under Machines on every device you sign in on.
A machine belongs to one account at a time, and only you can open it. To move a machine to another account, take it off its account on that machine first.
Open another machine
- On the start screen, click a machine under Machines.
- Pick a project on it.
The project opens like a local one. Its terminals, chats, files, git and launches run on that machine. To browse another machine's folders, choose Browse another machine in the command palette.
Settings, Account shows how you reach each machine:

| Via relay | A network blocks the direct way. Slower. |
Reachable from other devices, on a machine's page, checks whether your other devices can reach it and says what to fix, such as a firewall or a VPN. The same page can close the local network route or use another connection service. With the connection service off, only devices on the machine's own network reach it.
When a machine does not answer
A sleeping or offline machine shows as not answering. Ruimte keeps trying. Nothing on the machine stops because the connection dropped.
Update a machine
The desktop app updates itself. After an update, its machine runs the old version until it restarts. Ruimte asks you to choose:

Manage your account
Settings, Account lists your machines and your ways to sign in. Sign out takes this device off. Delete account removes the account and every sign-in to it; your machines keep their projects.
